題目：Atomic Structures of the Paramyxovirus Fusion Proteins Suggest Mechanism of Membrane Fusion.
The Paramyxoviridae are enveloped viruses that include mumps virus, measles virus, Newcastle disease virus (NDV), human respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza virus 5 (SV5) and human parainfluenza virus 1-4 (hPIV). Many members of this viral family are significant human and animal pathogens, and newly emergent deadly paramyxoviruses (Nipah and Hendra viruses) have been identified. The entry of paramyxoviruses into cells requires the merger of viral and cellular membranes and formation an entry pore, which is catalyzed by the viral fusion (F) protein. Here we present the crystal structures of the SV5 and hPIV3 F proteins in pre- and postfusion conformations, respectively. The mechanism of membrane fusion mediated by F proteins also will be discussed.
