University Project English Instructor Wanted

      The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, National Chung Hsing University, is offering a project-based contract teaching position.  This three-to-five-year project is designed to enrich the English-learning environment at NCHU by offering advanced English courses for non-English major students and facilitating extra-curriculum English learning activities and self-learning in the English Resources Center.  The prospective teacher must be an English native speaker, with a Master Degree in TESOL, English and American Literatures, or other related humanities.  Previous teaching experience in Taiwan is preferred, but not a prerequisite.  The teacher is expected to teach Freshman English, Advanced English, Oral Training, Pronunciation, or other related English courses in both the day and night schools for at least 14 hours a week.  It is also required that the teacher offers 4 office hours for English consultation in the English Resources Center, providing assistance in such matters as revising student papers, helping with applications for advanced learning abroad, editing school administration documents in English, etc.  The teacher also has to help design and run extra-curriculum English learning activities in the English Resources Center from time to time.

     The salary for this position is around 55,000 NT$ a month, which is equal to that of a regular full-time college instructor.  Additional benefits include health insurance, an annual bonus, and paid summer and winter vacations.    

     The position is to be effective August 1, 2006.  Candidates should send a cover letter, CV, and copies of their Master thesis, M.A. degree diploma and/or Taiwan certificate of college instructor to Dr. Shu-ching Chen, Chair, Dept. of Foreign Languages and Literatures, National Chung Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan.
