In February, the website "Unews" released the 2025 rankings of the top 100 most popular college majors among high school students. National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) had two programs make the list. The department of Veterinary Medicine was highly favored by high school students, securing the third spot nationwide, rising three places from last year's sixth place ranking. The department of Law ranked 25th overall, climbing 13 places from last year, and was ranked fourth among all law-related programs in the country.

The rankings were compiled based on data from 44.9 million unique users and 531.9 million page views between January 3, 2024, and January 3, 2025. Out of 2,658 programs nationwide, the website identified the top 100 most viewed programs.

NCHU’s department of Veterinary Medicine, established 55 years ago, is a key training ground for veterinary professionals in Taiwan. The program continuously innovates in teaching and research. In recent years, it has introduced lifelike veterinary simulators from abroad, including full-scale models of cattle and dogs, and has also developed a fish blood-drawing model. With the most comprehensive collection of veterinary simulators in Taiwan, the program enhances clinical skills training while upholding animal welfare.

Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Ter-Hsin Chen, stated that NCHU’s department of Veterinary Medicine has made outstanding achievements in international collaboration and academic research, maintaining its leading position in veterinary education in Taiwan. This prominence is one of the reasons why the program remains highly sought after by high school students.

Among the top 100 most popular majors, Law was the most frequently listed discipline, with 10 programs making the ranking. NCHU’s department of Law was ranked fourth in the legal studies category. In recent years, the program has introduced various practical and interdisciplinary courses, such as the "Judicial Practice" course in collaboration with the Taichung District Court, the "Administrative Law Practice Learning" course with the Taichung City Government Legal Affairs Bureau, the "Criminal Law Practice" course with the Legal Aid Foundation, and the "Legal Professional Services and Learning" course in partnership with the Taichung Bar Association. These courses integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application, combining public service and professional training to provide students with comprehensive legal education and hands-on experience.

Additionally, the NCHU College of Law and Politics offers two core courses: "Law, Policy, and Special Topics," which aligns with current events and features faculty from four departments jointly teaching on trending issues such as AI, net-zero emissions, and climate change, allowing students to stay informed about the latest policies and societal trends while developing forward-thinking expertise. Another course, "Global Sustainable Governance," is an intensive summer course conducted entirely in English. Centered on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the course integrates interdisciplinary knowledge to inspire students' innovative thinking and practical abilities. This course attracts not only NCHU students but also students from various countries, fostering a multicultural exchange platform that encourages students to explore global sustainability challenges and opportunities from diverse perspectives.
