On February 18, Professor Tzong-Ru Lee from the Sustainable Marketing Laboratory of NCHU’s Department of Marketing invited Professor Martin J. Zuidhof from the University of Alberta, Canada, to deliver a keynote speech at the "2025 Taiwan-Canada Workshop: Research and Marketing of Chicken Growth Models." His presentation, titled "The Development and Promotion of the Chicken Growth Model," attracted approximately 100 attendees, including representatives from the Livestock Research Institute, the Poultry Association, and major agricultural enterprises such as Charoen Pokphand (CP) and Uni-President.
During the workshop, Professor Martin J. Zuidhof shared insights from his 30 years of research on chicken growth models. By utilizing data collection and statistical modeling, he has developed a framework for predicting the growth trajectory of individual chickens. This model enables precise determination of optimal feed intake and nutrient composition for each bird.
Professor Martin J. Zuidhof currently serves as the President of the Poultry Science Association, which has approximately 2,000 members worldwide. From this year onward, the association aims to expand its membership and activities in the Indo-Pacific region.
Professor Tzong-Ru Lee of NCHU stated that Professor Zuidhof’s visit to Taiwan was intended to foster connections with academia, industry, research institutions, and the Ministry of Agriculture. Looking ahead, NCHU and the University of Alberta anticipate further collaboration and academic exchanges.
