2025 Huisun Wood Culture Festival Kicks Off with Joy

The highly anticipated annual Huisun Wood Culture Festival, organized by the Office of Experimental Forest Management at National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), officially opened on May 17, marking its 18th year. This year’s festival offers features an exciting lineup of events and a nostalgic promotional offer—admission is just NT$50, a symbolic price that harks back to recalls 37 years ago.
But that’s not all—the NT$50 entry fee is being “multiplied tenfold,” “multiplied tenfold,” unlocking access to a value-packed experience worth over more than NT$500. Visitors can redeem receive native tree seedlings, participate in immersive forest sensory experiences, win exquisite gifts through interactive challenges, and enjoy open-air musical performances that provide offer a feast for both the eyes and ears.
The festival spans two weekends—May 17–18 and May 24–25, featuring a wide range of nature-inspired and hands-on activities hands-on, nature-themed activities. Highlights include DIY workshops using domestic wood and bamboo, butterfly observation tours, tree climbing experiences, and interactive games designed for families for all ages. More than 20 vendors from local communities and forestry-related organizations are joining the event participating, along with an exhibit of Nissan’s new energy vehicles.
Special workshops are led by lifestyle design team teams Damaie Culture & Esthetics and The Carpenter, offering activities such as eco-jar creation and reclaimed wood car DIY projects, all designed to showcase the beauty and diversity of forest life.
A standout feature this year is the “Forest Fragrance Experience,” which invites visitors to explore the natural aromas of shell ginger, cinnamon, and forest-grown coffee. These scents are paired with corresponding forest products—shell ginger mist, cinnamon tea, and freshly brewed coffee—creating a multisensory journey through the forest’s essence and value multi-sensory experience that captures the forest’s essence and value.
In line with its sustainability mission, the Office of Experimental Forest Management has built on last year’s milestone of obtaining followed last year’s achievement of earning FSC Forest Management (FM) Certification by actively pursuing FSC Chain of Custody (COC) Certification this year. This ensures that its forest products come from responsibly managed and traceable sources, providing consumers with trusted, eco-conscious choices.
The opening ceremony was headlined by 28 young dancers from ShiNan Elementary School, who performed an award-winning indigenous Atayal dance that recently earned top honors at Taiwan’s 2024 National Student Dance Competition.
