On May 13, 2025, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, President of Diponegoro University (UNDIP)—a top-tier university in Indonesia and a sister school of National Chung Hsing University (NCHU)—visited NCHU accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Education. He was joined by Dr. Wijayanto, Vice President; Dr. Dian Wahyu Harjanti, Director of Innovation and Collaboration; and Prof. Didik Wisnu Widjajanto, Committee Member of the International Office of the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences.
NCHU President Fuh-Jyh Jan personally received the delegation. During the meeting, the two universities renewed their university-level Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reinforcing their longstanding friendship and collaboration. President Jan shared his valuable experience in supervising Indonesian Ph.D. students and emphasized that Indonesia remains a key country for international student recruitment at NCHU. He expressed hopes of expanding dual degree programs with more departments in partnership with UNDIP.
Diponegoro University, located in Central Java, is a prestigious public university known for its outstanding research and strong industry-academia connections, especially in engineering, agricultural, and fisheries sciences. During the meeting, Vice President Dr. Chi-Chung Chou, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Jhy-Cherng Tsai and Academic Secretary of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dr. Hsin-I Chiang introduced NCHU’s key research achievements, enhancing mutual understanding of each institution’s academic strengths and development goals.
President Suharnomo stated that UNDIP will continue to recommend outstanding students to participate in exchange programs or pursue degree studies at NCHU, and welcomed NCHU’s faculty and students to visit UNDIP to further promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
President Jan reaffirmed NCHU’s commitment to the Ministry of Education’s New Southbound Policy, which emphasizes “people-centered, two-way exchanges.” Through partnerships with top universities in New Southbound countries, NCHU aims to foster close bilateral academic exchange, jointly host academic conferences, publish research findings, and guide outstanding students through dual degree programs. This approach promotes sustainable international cooperation and cultivates globally-minded talents with strong local engagement.
The renewal of this agreement marks a new phase of long-term and comprehensive collaboration between the two institutions, laying a solid foundation for more diverse international cooperation and educational exchange in the future.
