National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) held a donation ceremony on June 13 to acknowledge the generous contribution from Greenyn Biotechnology Co., LTD., which donated funds for the Jade Award and the Hsing-Yi Scholarship. The company’s chairman, Chia-Feng Wu, is an alumnus of NCHU’s EMBA program (Class of 2021) and the NCHU Top Elite School Class 2. As he achieves continued success in business, Wu remains committed to giving back to his alma mater by actively supporting academic development and research.

Over the past two years, Chairman Wu has donated nearly NT$1 million in scholarships to assist underprivileged students. This year, he donated another NT$1 million to the Jade Award. Over the next five years, Greenyn Biotechnology plans to donate a total of NT$5 million to support the Jade Award and Hsing-Yi Scholarship, aiming to reward promising young scholars and financially disadvantaged students.

The Jade Award, established by NCHU in 2013, recognizes outstanding scholars under the age of 45 with strong research potential. The selection process is highly competitive and rigorous. To date, 42 recipients have been honored, many of whom have gone on to receive prestigious distinctions such as the NSTC Outstanding Research Award, Ta-You Wu Memorial Award from the National Science Council, Future Tech Award, National Innovation Award, and recognition among the world’s top 2% scientists.

In addition to the Jade Award, NCHU launched the Hsing-Yi Project in 2017 to provide underprivileged students with financial support of NT$100,000 per year for four years (NT$400,000 total), helping them focus on their studies without financial stress. So far, 64 students have benefited from this program. Chairman Wu has contributed NT$800,000 to the Hsing-Yi Scholarship over the past two years, along with an additional NT$100,000 in general student aid to support students in need. Greenyn Biotechnology has pledged to continue its annual donations to the Hsing-Yi Scholarship for the next four years.

President Fuh-Jyh Jan of NCHU expressed his sincere gratitude, stating that alumni play a vital role in strengthening the university, especially in the increasingly competitive landscape of higher education. He thanked Chairman Wu for his ongoing support, which enhances NCHU’s ability to attract and retain talent while also assisting students facing economic hardship. To further support young researchers, NCHU has also launched a new Jade Outstanding Award this year, offering a grant of NT$500,000.

Greenyn Biotechnology is a leading domestic company in the development of functional health supplement ingredients. Chairman Wu embraces the business philosophy of "altruism, co-creation, sharing, and mutual prosperity," guided by the personal motto "create opportunities and do meaningful things." Under his leadership, the company has expanded from trade and OEM services to differentiated product design and independent R&D—continuously creating value and giving back to society.

Chairman Wu remarked that his achievements today are the result of the support he has received from many mentors and from NCHU. He is honored to contribute to his alma mater and hopes that through supporting the Jade Award and Hsing-Yi Scholarship, more young scholars and students will be empowered to pursue their dreams without distraction. Moving forward, he aims to continue promoting the spirit of altruism, building a virtuous cycle that embodies co-creation, shared value, and mutual prosperity.
