The National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) Library has once again achieved outstanding recognition in advancing nationwide academic resource sharing. At the 17th Second General Assembly of the Chinese Association of Library Consortium (CALC), held on August 22 at National Ilan University, the NCHU Library received two major honors: the 2024 Central Regional Committee Enthusiastic Service Award and the 2024 Referral Service Award.
During 2024, the NCHU Library served as the convener of the Central Regional Committee, organizing a series of regional lectures on diverse topics, including AI and Library Services and Academic Writing. Its proactive role in fostering professional exchange and serving as a hub for academic resources in central Taiwan earned it the Enthusiastic Service Award.
In addition, guided by the principle of resource sharing, the NCHU Library functioned as the Central Regional Referral Library. It assisted small member libraries that processed fewer than ten document delivery requests in the previous year by consolidating and handling requests on their behalf. This initiative allowed smaller institutions to access and utilize the collections of libraries nationwide with greater ease, which earned NCHU the Referral Service Award. The Library has pledged to continue supporting collaboration and exchange among libraries across Taiwan, ensuring equitable access to academic resources.
Commenting on this double honor, Director Prof. Hui-Yun Sung of NCHU Library stated: “This recognition is not only an affirmation of our team’s dedication, but also a reflection of our service spirit of ‘Resource Sharing, Knowledge Without Boundaries.’ Receiving these awards is both a privilege and a responsibility.”
Director Prof. Sung emphasized that the NCHU Library will continue to strengthen partnerships with libraries nationwide, building a platform for academic resource sharing and contributing to the advancement of scholarship in Taiwan.
