Next year (2026) marks the 60th anniversary of the passing of former National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) President Hui-Sun Tang. To commemorate President Tang’s profound contributions during his tenure, NCHU is holding a special archival exhibition during its 106th anniversary celebration. Organized by the Secretariat’s Records Section, the exhibition is on display in the first-floor lobby of the Administration Building from October 31 to November 14.

Through precious archival materials, historical photographs, and video footage, the exhibition revisits the crucial years between 1963 and 1966, when President Tang laid the foundation for NCHU’s institutional development and cultural identity.

The exhibition features three main themes, presenting the major achievements during President Tang’s administration — including the establishment of new academic departments, the formulation of the university motto and anthem, and the development of both Hui-Sun Hall and the Hui-Sun Experimental Forest. Visitors can experience the visionary spirit and passion that drove educational reform and campus construction during that transformative period.

In his remarks, NCHU President Fuh-Jyh Jan noted that during his tenure, President Tang led efforts to expand academic departments, enhance campus facilities, and define the university’s guiding motto — “Honesty, Simplicity, Diligence, and Precision” — along with composing the school song. President Tang’s footprints were not only found across the campus but also throughout NCHU’s four experimental forests, especially the Neng-Kao Experimental Forest, which was later renamed the Hui-Sun Forest in his honor. The construction of Hui-Sun Hall embodied Tang’s foresight in education and culture, while the forest’s management reflected his commitment to integrating academic research with practical application. Although President Tang tragically passed away during an inspection visit to one of the forests, his spirit remains deeply embedded in the lifeblood of NCHU — passed down from generation to generation.

The exhibition is free and open to the public, and all faculty, students, alumni, and community members are warmly invited to visit, revisit six decades of NCHU’s history, and reflect on the enduring legacy that President Tang Hui-Sun left to the university.
