NCHU Celebrates the 106th Anniversary and Honors Eight Outstanding Alumni for Their Distinguished Contributions

National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) held the 106th Anniversary Celebration and the 29th Outstanding Alumni Award Ceremony on November 1. Former university presidents and past presidents of the NCHU Alumni Association attended the event in person, highlighting the deep bonds of unity and tradition among the NCHU community. This year’s eight honorees were recognized for their exceptional achievements across diverse fields, including academic research, business management, public service, and arts and culture, in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the nation and society.
In the Academic Research category, the honoree was Wen-Cherng Tsai, Chairman of Super Laboratory Co., Ltd. (Department of Plant Pathology, Class of 1967).
The Business Management category included Chia-Feng Wu, Chairman of Greenyn Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (EMBA, Class of 2022); Huey-Jaun Luh, Chairperson of Hua-Hsin Technology Co., Ltd. (Department of Accounting, College of Law and Business, Class of 1980); and Cheng-Pin Lin, President of Delta India Region (Department of Applied Economics, Class of 1994).
In the Public Service category, the awardees were Ming-Chang Wu, Chairman of Taiwan Sugar Corporation (Department of Food Science, B.S. 1978, M.S. 1985), and Kuei-Lin Fu, Director of the Nantou Branch, Soil and Water Conservation Agency, Ministry of Agriculture (Department of Soil and Water Conservation, M.S. 2004, Ph.D. 2016).
The Arts and Culture honoree was Jo-Tzu Yang (pen name Yang Shuang-Tzu), alumna of the Graduate Institute of Taiwanese Literature (Class of 2012), who won the 75th National Book Award for Translated Literature in the United States last year.
Additionally, Te-Chuan Chan, Director of Information Technology at Realtek Semiconductor Corporation (Department of Applied Mathematics, Class of 1986), received recognition for his notable accomplishments.
NCHU President Fuh-Jyh Jan remarked in his address that the university has been deeply rooted in Taiwan’s development for over a century, advancing from its agricultural origins to achievements in veterinary medicine, medical sciences, and technology. He emphasized that NCHU has consistently responded to national needs and safeguarded public well-being through its academic expertise. In response to the recent African swine fever outbreak, NCHU mobilized immediately to assist with testing and prevention efforts, demonstrating the university community’s unwavering sense of duty and commitment to the nation. President Jan also expressed heartfelt gratitude to alumni and corporate partners for their continuous support in research collaboration, interdisciplinary innovation, campus infrastructure, and scholarships—each contribution strengthening the foundation of NCHU.
