NCHU Hosts UNRN Delegation to Strengthen Cooperation with Northern Thailand and Advance the INTENSE Program Initiative

National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) hosted a delegation from the Upper Northern Research Administration Network (UNRN) of Thailand on November 18, 2025. The delegation was led by Dr. Sanchai Jaturasitha, Honorary Professor at Chiang Mai University, and included 19 administrators and scholars from 9 universities in Northern Thailand. Key members included Dr. Akharasit Bunsongthae, Vice President of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University; Dr. Acharaporn Duangjai, Assistant to the President of the University of Phayao; Dr. Suphaphon Udomluck, Assistant to the President of the Nationa University; Dr. Boonthawan wingwon, Assistant to the President of Lampang Inter-Tech College, along with several deans and center directors. The delegation was received by Dr. Chi-Chung Chou, Senior Vice President and Dean of the Office of International Affairs at NCHU; Prof. Wen-Chi Wu, Executive Director of the Thai Chiang Mai Base for NCHU's International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (NTENSE Program) and Asst. Prof. lumsangkul Chompunut, Deputy Executive Director of the base.
During the meeting, NCHU and UNRN officially signed a Letter of Intent (LOI), establishing a foundation for closer cooperation in academic exchange, research collaboration, and talent cultivation. Thai students from NCHU's Department of Animal Science also shared their study experience in Taiwan, giving the delegation direct insight into NCHU's teaching strengths, cross-cultural learning environment, and achievements in internationalization. As the Deputy Convening School for INTENSE Program in Thailand," NCHU is responsible for the program's promotion and recruitment efforts in the Chiang Mai region. Vice President Chi-Chung Chou noted that the UNRN brings together major universities in the Greater Chiang Mai area, the delegation's visit and future cooperation with multiple Thai institutions will will help strengthen cooperative momentum and support the program’s outreach and development in Northern Thailand. Furthermore, NCHU will co-host an education fair with Chiang Mai Rajabhat University in Chiang Mai on December 4th. A ceremony will also be held on the campus to unveil the INTACT base, deepening collaboration between the two institutions and enhancing the visibility and recruitment impact of the program in Northern Thailand.
The UNRN's visit and the official signing of the LOI not only signify a comprehensive upgrade in cooperation between NCHU and higher education institutions in Northern Thailand but also reaffirm a shared commitment to advancing regional education, promoting transnational talent cultivation and exchange, and laying a solid foundation for a stronger international cooperation network in the future.
