On November 19, National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) welcomed a large delegation of 154 members from its sister school, Mapúa University, led by its Head of Office of International Linkages, Relations, and Development Cooperation, Dr. Delia Senoro, along with Dr. Donn Enrique L. Moreno, Dean of the E.T. Yuchengco School of Business, faculty representatives from the School of Health Sciences, and Dr. Emmillie Joy B. Mejia, Dean of the School of Nursing. The primary goal of this visit was to introduce Mapúa students to Taiwan’s high-quality higher education environment and encourage them to consider pursuing further studies in Taiwan.

NCHU President, Dr. Fuh-Jyh Jan remarked that NCHU has actively fostered an international-friendly campus in recent years. The university has completed full bilingualization of its websites, documents, and signage, and launched the pioneering OIAS One-Stop Service Platform for international faculty and students. At the same time, NCHU has expanded dual-degree collaborations and newly established sister-school partnerships with five top universities ranked within the QS Top 200, enabling students to stand on NCHU’s strong foundation while embracing global opportunities—making NCHU an ideal choice for Mapúa students seeking overseas education.

Head of Office of International Linkages, Relations, and Development Cooperation of Mapúa University, Dr. Delia Senoro noted that studying abroad through exchange or degree programs broadens students’ horizons and enhances their competitiveness. She emphasized, “Taiwan offers an excellent academic environment and convenient living conditions, and its proximity to the Philippines makes it an ideal study destination. NCHU is one of Taiwan’s leading research-oriented universities. In addition to its renowned College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and its strong Colleges of Engineering, Life Sciences, and Management, the newly established College of Medicine shows great potential. We strongly encourage students to consider NCHU for their future studies.”

The visit began with an introduction by Associate Vice President for International Affairs, Office of International Affairs, Dr. Kai-Jung Chi, who presented NCHU’s overall environment, international student resources, and degree and exchange program advantages. To help students better understand life in Taiwan, Filipino students currently studying at NCHU were invited to share their experiences in academics, housing, extracurricular activities, and cultural adaptation, allowing visitors to visualize what studying at NCHU might be like.

In addition, Dr. Congo Tak Shing Ching introduced the INTENSE Program, offering an alternative pathway beyond exchange and standard degree programs, enabling students to design a study plan that best suits their needs.

To provide a comprehensive understanding of NCHU’s academic environment, the delegation was divided into five groups according to their disciplinary backgrounds and hosted by the College of Medicine, College of Life Sciences, Graduate Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Graduate Institute of Technology Management, and the Department of Accounting. Each unit introduced its curriculum and future development, arranged faculty-student exchange sessions, and guided students through laboratory tours, allowing them to experience potential academic settings firsthand. Meanwhile, faculty members from both institutions discussed academic collaboration and student exchange opportunities, strengthening the foundation for future cooperation.

The campus tour, led by NCHU Student Ambassadors and Filipino students, introduced key landmarks such as Chung Hsing Lake, the library, and the sports complex, allowing visitors to experience the campus atmosphere and learning environment. The highlight of the visit came when NCHU President, Dr. Fuh-Jyh Jan personally greeted the group and joined them for a photo, giving students a warm surprise and marking a memorable conclusion to the visit.

The Mapúa University delegation’s visit not only helped students learn about NCHU’s comprehensive international support system and diverse academic resources but also strengthened bilateral cooperation in international education. NCHU looks forward to welcoming more Filipino students in the future and building an even more vibrant and diverse international campus together.
