The 2026 National University System of Taiwan (NUST) International Affairs Working Group Meeting was held on August 14 at National Chung Hsing University (NCHU). The meeting was chaired by Dr. Chi-Chung Chou, Vice President and Dean of International Affairs of NCHU, and brought together 30 international affairs directors and administrative staff members from universities within the system. Through administrative exchange, experience sharing, and visits to featured campus sites, participants learned from the experiences of partner universities, explored resource integration, and further inspired possibilities for collaboration under the NUST framework.

In his opening remarks, Vice President and Dean Chou stated that NUST possesses strong advantages in cross-university collaboration and resource integration. He expressed hope that the meeting would encourage member universities to share practical experiences and observations in promoting international affairs, enhance mutual understanding and familiarity, and further strengthen the foundation for future cooperation and connections.

During the meeting, representatives from member universities shared and exchanged practical experiences in promoting international affairs, including overseas recruitment strategies, international student support, Mandarin Chinese education and international foundation programs, English-Medium Instruction (EMI), local cultural experience activities, and career counseling measures for international students seeking employment in Taiwan. Participants also further discussed future directions for collaboration, including the promotion of cross-university activities, short-term international exchanges, and student resource sharing. Representatives offered various suggestions and expectations for making effective use of the NUST platform to integrate the strengths and resources of member universities, enrich international students’ learning and living experiences in Taiwan, and enhance the overall international visibility of the system.
In the latter part of the meeting, participants visited the NCHU Apiary and horticultural therapy facilities. Through these featured campus site visits, participants gained a deeper understanding of NCHU’s strengths in agricultural education, teaching and research, and social engagement, adding a more concrete and diverse interactive experience to the meeting.

The meeting not only deepened the connections among international affairs directors and administrative staff members within the NUST International Affairs Working Group, but also enhanced the system’s capacity for international affairs collaboration through the exchange of ideas and experiences. Moving forward, the NUST International Affairs Working Group will continue to serve as a platform for inter-university exchange and resource sharing, jointly promoting the internationalization of higher education in Taiwan.
