Connecting with nature is a great way to unwind from a busy lifestyle, allowing people to relax their minds and rejuvenate themselves. This time, through artistic creation, we bring nature into the campus alongside the vibrant "light" of various life forces. For the 107th anniversary celebration of National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), the Art Center has specially invited Professor Chen, Shi-Chiang from the Department of Fine Arts at National Changhua University of Education to curate the "Natural Light" Art Exhibition. Bringing together 18 outstanding Taiwanese artists across generations from the northern, central, and southern regions of Taiwan, the exhibition showcases their diverse interpretations of "nature" through various creative mediums. The exhibition runs from October 15 to December 24, 2026.

The concept of "learning from nature" has long inspired literati and scientists to conceive timeless philosophical thoughts and scientific theorems, profoundly influencing technological development—and the realm of "art" is no exception. Through traditional ink paintings of landscapes, flowers, birds, and animals, viewers can immerse themselves in the beauty and grandeur of all things under the artist's brush, while observing ecological shifts, contemporary trends, and the philosophical inquiry into the nature of things. Moving into modern art practices integrated with nature, the focus has gradually extended from the earth itself to the interplay between humans and the environment. This reflects the artists' realizations or emotional projections while observing landscapes; it can also transcend concrete representation to manifest the cycle of life, fluid textures, ecological reflections, and local historical identities. Furthermore, through the use of natural media, organic painting materials, or land art, the relationship between art and nature remains ever-evolving, inspiring diverse creative practices and actualizing contemporary aesthetics.

Featuring over a hundred works of art, the exhibition space encapsulates artistic realms such as contemplating mountains, gazing at the sea, admiring flora, awaiting the moon, ascending heights, and exploring secluded places. Moving beyond these spatial experiences, it further transitions into humanistic concerns and the spirit of sustainability, encompassing literature, ecology, history, and introspection. Through diverse creative forms and mediums, viewers can intimately experience each artist's unique perspective on "nature," converging into humanistic dialogues beneath multifaceted spectrums of natural light. On the opening day, the Art Center has specially invited Assistant Professor Hong, Jun-Yuan from the Graduate Institute of Taiwan Literature at NCHU, and Assistant Professor Shen, Yu-Chang from the Department of Cultural and Creative Industries Management at National Taipei University of Education, to co-host an "Artist Seminar." This symposium will actualize the humanistic dialogue among the audience, the artworks, and the creators. It will explore the interplay between nature, modern life, and artistic creation, alongside the transformation of natural imagery and mediums into artistic vocabularies; furthermore, it will examine ecological issues, geography, identity, and the imprint of the times, thereby guiding the public to re-examine our emotions and perceptions toward nature.

"Seeing mountains as mountains; seeing mountains not as mountains; seeing mountains as mountains once again." Beyond conveying truth, goodness, and beauty, art serves as a medium that accommodates and extends a wide spectrum of issues, awaiting interpretation by viewers. Most importantly, the exhibiting artists all express their deep reverence and appreciation for the land of Taiwan, embedding multifaceted Taiwanese cultural elements of profound significance. We warmly welcome everyone to visit, admire the works, and immerse themselves in the "Natural Light" brought by art.
