NCHU Inaugurates On “Hsing-Wing Program” to Assist Underprivileged Students Toward Education

Chung Hsing University introduced the launched program “Hsing-Wing Program”(興翼計畫)at a press conference on February 23, 2017. Admissions and scholarship announcement was made. The program is designed to help underprivileged students find better opportunities in pursuing education at public universities. Furthermore, the program also set up a scholarship fund from fundraising. The underprivileged applicant would be able to receive NT$400,000 throughout a four year college education. Currently, the total amount of the fund is about NT$5, 000, 000 (5million).

The “Hsing-Wing Program”(興翼計畫)consists of enrollment and scholarship. In 2017, the “Hsing-Wing Program”(興翼計畫)Office of Admissions was created to manage enrollment and scholarship applications matters. Lower examination scores and evaluation standards, simplified enrollment procedures, cheaper registration fees are just among some of the designed steps to provide underprivileged student applicants better admission opportunities. On September 2017, the program has accepted a total of 8 students, who will each be receiving a yearly NT$100, 000 scholarship, in total, the students should receive NT$400,000 for a four year college degree. The Chung Hsing Alumni and business enterprises donations contributed to the scholarship fund.

The “Hsing-Wing Program”(興翼計畫)Office of Admissions was created for the financially underprivileged students, that include very low income, low income families, and those who meet specific eligibility requirements or formally determined by the president of the Chung Hsing University as financially underprivileged. The “Hsing-Wing Program”(興翼計畫)have in total 22 opening student admission vacancies for the three different college departments, namely: A (business related major), B (science and engineering related) and, C (agriculture, biology, veterinary science related). The college departments assess applications on an average evaluation criteria and written and oral examinations are also waivered. The applicants are able to indicate all three departments as their admission interest in one application, instead of applying separately. This is for the purpose of simplified admission procedure. Furthermore, the application fee are lowered to NT$300 to minimize student’s application burden.

The “Hsing-Wing Program”(興翼計畫)scholarship fund is initiated and created by Shieu Fuh-Sheng(薛富盛), president of Chung Hsing University. Since its establishment, it was well received by Chung Hsing Alumni and the private enterprises. Currently, the fund has received NT$5,000,000(5million) donations to provide underprivileged students necessary financially support for their college education.
