The year 2018 is the 45th founding anniversary of National Economic Development Authority in the Philippines. With a busy schedule, Dr. Ernesto M. Pernia, the Secretary of Socioeconomic Planning, hosted Dr. Wen-Ling Deng, Director of Division of Foreign Student Affairs in the Office of International Affairs at National Chung Hsing University, and other visitors from Taiwan with warm welcome on February 6.
Dr. Wen-Ling Deng and Ms. Yi-Ting Lin joined an academic group, led by Dr. Wu, Eing-Ming, to visit the Philippines on February 4-9 under the 2018 ADB Theme "Linking People and Economies for Inclusive Development" to highlight the linkage of Taiwan and the Philippines that enables sustained and inclusive economic progress.
On February 6, Dr. Ernesto Pernia delivered the Philippines Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 on the administration’s 0-10-point socioeconomic agenda; Engr. Raul T. Sabularse, the officer-in-charge of Department of Science and Technology, spoke on the harmonized national research and development agenda in 2017-2022; and Dr. Rafaelita M. Aldaba, the assistant secretary of Industry Development Trade Policy, described the inclusive innovation industrial strategy for Philippine technological development by establishing university-industry-government & entrepreneurship partnerships.
From the perspective of PDP 2017-2022, we found several aspects that might benefit both parties. Now it is a good time for the researchers at NCHU to interact with the scientists in the Philippines for future collaboration.
