In the morning of April 25 NCHU had two activities –“2019 NCHU International Partnership Forum - Exploring Collaboration between Taiwan and India” as well as “India Taiwan Career and Academic Linkages”.

The opening ceremony was jointly attended by NCHU President Fuh-Sheng Shieu, Deputy Director General Sandeep Jakhar of India-Taipei Association, Deputy Minister Cheng-Mount Cheng of National Development Council, the scholars from NCHU’s partner schools - Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology as well as Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University. The ceremony lively began with an Indian folk dance performed by a dance troupe.

The forum of “India Taiwan Career and Academic Linkages” was jointly held by Office of International Affairs NCHU, India-Taipei Association and National Development Council. It was a circuit discussion forum all over Taiwan starting from last year, and the central Taiwan session was organized by NCHU. Participants in the discussion forum were 70 Indian students and those from 19 universities and colleges in Taiwan including NCHU, National Cheng Kung University, National Chiao Tung University, National Changhua University of Education, Providence University and Tunghai University. It was hoped that through this discussion forum, Taiwan industries and the information about learning career could be introduced to the Indian students who were studying in Taiwan. It would allow them to understand Taiwan on the direction of economic development and the government policy of recruiting foreign talents. Thus, Taiwan could further retain foreign talents.

For “2019 NCHU International Partnership Forum - Exploring Collaboration between Taiwan and India” five scholars from Vel Tech and SRM were invited to Taiwan. They proceeded with an interaction and exchange on the academic deepening and the exchange student affairs in both schools.

Besides, on April 26 the NCHU engineering college held “Bilateral Conference on Engineering and Technology”. Five Indian scholars and eight Taiwan scholars gave speeches in the conference. They proceeded with academic exchanges and discussions based on their own professional domains. The scholars from the two Indian partner universities visited our engineering college before the conference. They talked with our college dean and department chiefs, focusing on discussion about the bilateral cooperation, development direction and how to promote a dual degree program so as to attract Indian students to study in NCHU.

As Office of International Affairs NCHU indicated, NCHU had nine partner schools in India for the time being. Last year (2018) NCHU formed a group to visit India. We would like to give special thanks to Mr. Charles Li, Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai for his assistance during our stay in India. This time we invited the scholars of our partner schools to come to Taiwan for academic exchange, hoping for establishment of a long-term and bilateral substantial exchange mechanism.
