Groundbreaking of NCHU "Smart Machinery Technology R&D Center" Donated by Chairman Te-Hwa Yang of Goodway Group

The "Smart Machinery Technology R&D Center" was donated by Te-Hwa Yang, an outstanding alumnus of National Chung Hsing University and the Chairman of Goodway Group. The groundbreaking ceremony was held at National Chung Hsing University on October 31. The building has a base area of approximately 1,800 square meters and is a 4-story building. It is built on the original site of the internship factory of National Chung Hsing University Department of Mechanical Engineering. In the future, it will be used as a research and development base of the smart machinery technology for the research and development, courses and student internships. It is expected to cultivate the talents in the smart machinery industry in the central region for the research and development, promotion and service of the industrial technology.

Te-Hwa Yang is the alumnus from the Class of 1965 in National Chung Hsing University Department of Mechanical Engineering. The Goodway Group he founded is a major famous domestic manufacturer of the machine tool and precision machinery. In addition to the successful business operations, Chairman Yang has also been concerned about the development of his alma mater for a long time. Considering the long-term development of the National Chung Hsing University Department of Mechanical Engineering, he specially donated the construction of the building for "Smart Machinery Technology R&D Center", and provided the annual sponsorship of more than TWD1.7 million for eight consecutive years for holding a national colleges and universities’ "Precision Machine Tool and Intelligent Technology Special Practice Competition". He spares no effort in the cultivation of the domestic talents in the machine tool and precision machinery.

President Fuh-Sheng Shieu stated that the central region is the center of Taiwan's machinery industry. More than 75% of the machinery industry bases are located here. There is a large demand for the intelligent machinery related professionals, and it is urgent to cooperate with the R&D units to jointly create the high value-added precision machinery. This time President Fuh-Sheng Shieu would like to particularly thank Chairman Yang for his strong support to his alma mater. Chairman Yang has set an example of a good deed for others to follow. President Fuh-Sheng Shieu believes that it will have a considerable synergistic effect on the technological development and talent cultivation of the smart machinery industry in the central region, and a win-win situation for both the industry and academia.
