The National Chung Hsing University's Section of Green Waterway was Completed and Inaugurated to Create a New Water-Friendly Landscape

The National Chung Hsing University's Section of the Green Waterway Water Environment Improvement Project, which is close to the campus of National Chung Hsing University, was officially launched on April 14. Taichung City Mayor Shiow-Yen Lu, National Chung Hsing University Vice President Chang-Hsien Yang, Deputy Minister of the Environmental Protection Administration Hung-Teh Tsai, Director of Water Resources Bureau Shi-Yi Fan, and peripheral Village Chiefs and Neighborhood Chiefs and others jointly attended the opening ceremony. The project concurrently takes into account the flood control, water quality, landscape and residents' living needs. After the remediation, the Green Waterway banks have become a comfortable leisure space.

The "Green Waterway" of Taichung City runs through the central, western and southern districts. The river is 5.7 kilometers long. The National Chung Hsing University Section (Xinyi South Street to Zhongming South Road), the Changchun Civil and Child Sport Center Section (Aiguo Street to Xinyi South Street) and the Taichung Overpass Section (Minquan Road to Fuxing Road) have been completed. The project adopts a low-impact development work method and the concept of sponge city, reduces the appearance of cement structure, and improves the water quality through the sewage interception. A "Clean Water Paradise" theme game area is newly set up on Fuxing Parkway, which is educational entertainment to create a beautiful waterfront landscape.

In his speech, Vice President Chang-Hsien Yang said that all the well-known cities have a well-known university, and the integration with the communities is an important medium and long term development goal of National Chung Hsing University. This time, we are particularly grateful to the central government and Taichung City Government for their engineering construction. National Chung Hsing University fully cooperated, including the demolition of the wall from the north side of the Humanities Building to Yunping Building on Xingda Road, while widening the sidewalks. Nowadays, there are the beautiful Riverbank on the south side of National Chung Hsing University, and the Green Waterway of the water-friendly Lohas on the west side. The campus is surrounded by the beautiful rivers. The university gate of the west side will also be opened in the future. Entering the campus, there is a green tunnel with the lush greenery. Walking inwards, there is Chung Hsing Lake and the University History Museum under construction, connecting Qinmei Green Park Road and the bicycle lane of railway station. After the remediation, the Green Waterway and the rich ecological environment in National Chung Hsing University Campus are believed to become a unique tourist attraction in Taichung City.

The National Chung Hsing University's Section of Green Waterway has three characteristics. First, under the premise of flood prevention and safety, the sewage is intercepted and purified on both sides, and more than 400 plants of 20 kinds of trees are newly planted to create the ecological diversity. Second, through the sidewalks, landscapes design and Clean Water Park, bring people closer to the rivers. Third, combine the water culture, water environment, and water landscape to preserve the humanistic space. He thanked the teachers and students of National Chung Hsing University for their attention to the environment and agreement to tear down the wall for greening beautification and make the university a garden.

In coordination with the Green Waterway Water Environment Improvement Project, National Chung Hsing University broke the boundary between the campus and the community and demolished the wall. The scooter parking lot of Social Sciences and Management Building was also expanded and more than 200 parking spaces were added. The west side Gate One of the intersection of Xingda Road and Meicun South Road is expected to open this summer. Yunping Building will also be renovated, adding a new entrance to Zhongming South Road, making it easier for the teachers and students to enter the campus. In addition, the north side of the west side Gate One is the reservation site for the second restaurant. At present, the construction project is contracting out, and the All Pass Restaurant on the south side of the west side Gate One will also undergo building renovations.
