President Affirms that NCHU Will Carry Forward Taiwan’s Experience throughout the World inNCHU’s 102nd Anniversary Celebration

On December 11, the 102nd anniversary of the founding of National Chung Hsing University, the anniversary celebration meeting were held and the 25th outstanding alumni were commended. President Ing-Wen Tsai personally came to congratulate National Chung Hsing University. This year, National Chung Hsing University selected 12 outstanding alumni from the industry, government and academia circles, including Minister of Finance Chien-Jung Su, Grand Justice Tai-Lang Lu of the Judicial Yuan, Minister Chang-Chen Yang of Hakka Affairs Council, President Chien-I Chang of Taiwan Institute of Economic Research, etc.
In her speech, President Ing-Wen Tsai said, “With the efforts of previous presidents, teachers and students, National Chung Hsing University has become an excellent comprehensive research university. Especially in the fields of agricultural biotechnology, animal and plant genes, and animal medicine, National Chung Hsing University has the world's top research strength, and actively practices social responsibility. The teachers and students of National Chung Hsing University are an important pillar of the Taiwan agricultural demonstration teams. They have been to African friendly countries, Southeast Asia and the Arabian Peninsula countries for a long time to assist in the development of local agricultural technology, and to carry forward Taiwan's experience in all corners of the world.”
As the President stated, National Chung Hsing University has also laid a solid foundation for the government’s civil governance. Currently, National Chung Hsing University has more than 7,000 alumni serving in governments at all levels. The proportion and importance of National Chung Hsing University’s alumni holding positions in government agencies is self-evident. “Thank National Chung Hsing University for training so many outstanding governance talents for the country,” said the President.
As National Chung Hsing University President Fuh-Sheng Shieu said, this year National Chung Hsing University established three professional colleges, namely the Professional College of Law, the Professional College of Data and Artificial Intelligence, and the Professional College of International Agriculture. In addition, he also called on 11 domestic universities to establish the National University System of Taiwan (NUST), integrate resources, seek complementary benefits, and create cross-domain synergy.
In the future, in addition to continuing to cultivate talents in higher education, teaching innovation, research excellence, and industry-university co-prosperity, four major tasks will also be gradually promoted, including: (1) New medical college: Complete the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle of a comprehensive university, and implement the holistic medical concept of healthy integration and enhance the well-being of human beings. (2) Expansion of the campus domain: Adding the Fuxing Campus, National Chung Hsing University will soon be stationed in the south core of Zhongxing New Village, and the establishment of the College of Agriculture and Green Technology Research and College of International Agronomy will drive the development of Nantou area. (3) Implementation of the policy to develop Taiwan into a bilingual nation by 2030: Taiwan’s higher education will undergo structural changes due to the promotion of bilingual education to enhance international competitiveness. (4) Fully fulfill the university social responsibility: Link industries and jointly promote ESG and the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and work together to pursue the vision of net zero emissions by 2050.

(Graduated from Department of Chemistry in 1976), Shui-Shu Wang, General Manager of Chenzhen Construction Co., Ltd.
