On October 25, 2022, the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) delegation from the Kingdom of Eswatini, the nation's diplomatically in Africa, visited National Chung Hsing University (NCHU). The delegation was led by Prof. Justice Thwala, Vice Chancellor of UNESWA, along with Prof. Absalom Manyatsi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture of UNESWA, Mr. Vumile Dlamini, Chief Officer, Royal Science Technology Park, Dr. Andile Simphiwe Metfula, Head of the Department of Computer Science, and Mr. Achilles Yeh, Director, Trade and Investment Promotion Section, Embassy of the Kingdom of Eswatini in Taiwan. The visit and exchange meeting were held in the library's first conference room on the 7th floor.
This visit and exchange meeting were jointly attended by the Vice President of NCHU, Dr. Chun-Liang Lin, Vice President for International Affairs, Dr. Chia-Lin Chang, Vice Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Shaw-Yhi Hwang, Vice Dean of College of Engineering, Dr. Cheng-Chung Chang, Director, Division of Academic Exchange, Office of International Affairs, Dr. Yun-Ju Chen, Director, Africa Industrial Research Center, Dr. Chia Chung Chen, Researcher, Africa Industrial Research Center, Dr. Jiunyuan Chen, Director, Agricultural Extension Center, Dr. Wen-Hsin Chung, Assistant Researcher, Agricultural Extension Center, Dr. Ming-Yi Chou, Technical Specialist, Agricultural Extension Center, Mr. Hung-Kuang Tai. In the meeting, Dr. Chia-Lin Chang, the Vice President for International Affairs, give an introduction to the NCHU. Vice Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Shaw-Yhi Hwang, Assistant Researcher, the Agricultural Extension Center, Dr. Ming-Yi Chou, and vice Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Cheng-Chung Chang, also introduced the development status of NCHU's agricultural characteristics and industrial applications. Prof. Justice Thwala, Vice Chancellor of UNESWA, introduced the current situation of the university and the direction of future cooperation.
Afterward, the Eswatini delegation also visited the relevant units of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources of NCHU and visited the International Bachelor Program Agribusiness to meet the students from Eswatini. And was introduced by Associate Professor Kuo-Jung Chao to the International Bachelor Program of Agribusiness, and then went to the NCHU Mart to visit and Experience the tea banquet activities. The director of the NCHU Mart, Biing-Wen Huang, is responsible for the reception.
In the concluding remarks, Dr. Fuh-Sheng Shieu, President of NCHU, and Prof. Justice Thwala, Vice Chancellor of UNESWA, exchanged views on the future international cooperation between NCHU and UNESWA. Looking forward to building a long-term cooperation consensus, signing agreements on academic exchanges and student exchanges, and expecting to cooperate on various topics such as the 2+2 study program for UNESWA students and joint research projects in agriculture and industry.
In addition to its continuous efforts to expand its sister schools in Southeast Asia and Europe, NCHU has actively cooperated with the government to develop links with Africa in recent years. Following the visit of the newly appointed H.E. Ambassador to Taiwan of the Kingdom of Eswatini in June this year, the exchange meeting was organized by the two universities. It is believed that further substantive cooperation talks will be carried out for the follow-up implementation of the government's Africa plan, which will lead to concrete progress, promoting cooperation between the two countries and consolidating the friendship between Taiwan and the Kingdom of Eswatini.
