To retain top international talent after their graduation and to reinforce this retention policy initiated by the government, Office of International Affairs (OIA), National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) coordinated a company visit to MoBagel, a foreign company located in Taipei on 8 December 2022, which stemmed from the “International Circulation Loop Project” under National University System of Taiwan (NUST). In total, 39 international students with different majors from National Chung Hsing University, National Chi Nan University, National Formosa University, and National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, attended the trip and enjoyed the tour.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been advancing by leaps and bounds and according to the 2022 survey conducted by 1111 Job Bank, “informational technology” was the most in-demand industry; thus, in order to provide foreign students with a glimpse of the current job market and employment situation, International Circulation Loop Project co-arranged the company visit with AI company Mo Bagel, hoping that in a way the trip would increase international students’ willingness to secure a job in Taiwan after they obtain their degrees.

The lecturer from MoBagel helped students understand the basics of artificial intelligence and machine learning in a simple and easy-to-understand way, and by allowing them to operate the Decanter AI data prediction platform in a hands-on manner. Other than offering students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the practical operation, the lecturer introduced a series of topics like defining business use cases, data preprocessing, modeling, and illustrating AI models in the hope of assisting students with hands-on data analysis experience. Besides, through the enterprises-students exchange, it was beneficial for students to make career planning according to their interests and professions. It also opened up more possibilities for students' career paths by guiding them to the AI technology trend.

In light of previous projects aiding business transformation, MoBagel found that many companies are facing a shortage of AI and industrial talents, which in turn affected the progress of AI development and the boons coming with it, productivity increase along with economic growth. Accordingly, MoBagel was looking forward to deepening the collaboration with the Office of International Affairs, NCHU to nurture and recruit AI talents, especially from international students.

The main goal of the International Circulation Loop Project ‘s company visit to MoBagel was to provide students with job information and the opportunity to interact with AI industry professionals. While consolidating their professional learning, the visit expected an increase in foreign students’ employment after they graduated.
