Double Affirmation by Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) National Chung Hsing University Won the Platinum Award in Sustainability Report Category

National Chung Hsing University, combining industry, government and academia to build a national-level net zero emission team, is committed to implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and has been affirmed by Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), a domestic index organization, for two consecutive years. This year, National Chung Hsing University was also awarded two TCSAs which are the "Platinum Award", the highest honor in the 15th Corporate Sustainability Report Category in 2022, and the "Taiwan University of Sustainable Development Excellence Award".
The award ceremony was held on November 16 at the Grand Hotel in Taipei. The President of Legislative Yuan Hsi-Kun Yu presented the award, and Chief Secretary of National Chung Hsing University Chin-Hsien Lin received the award on behalf of the university. This year, a total of 424 units participated in the award selection, including 48 universities. The content of the selection includes the aspects such as completeness of information disclosure, credibility, communication effectiveness, and the demonstration of fulfilling social responsibility in the sustainability report.
The sustainability report published by National Chung Hsing University this year covers 6 chapters, namely about National Chung Hsing University, university mission and vision, university governance, social participation, environmental governance and related appendix information. Meanwhile, in view of the global situation such as the sustainable development of SDGs, the 2050 wave of net zero emissions, and the COVID-19 epidemic, the report also shows more university’s courses, research, services and announcements on sustainability initiatives, net zero carbon emissions, carbon neutrality and related issues, while presenting the response measures under the COVID-19 epidemic.
As National Chung Hsing University President Fuh-Sheng Shieu said, "seeing the needs of the society and using the professions to address the needs of the society" is the key role that universities play in global sustainability. National Chung Hsing University has cooperated with 47 domestic enterprises this year to set up the only Academy of Circular Economy in Asia, which is to combine the strength of industry, government and academia to build a national-level net zero research and development and talent training team, hoping to contribute to the sustainable development of the world.
At the same time, National Chung Hsing University also established an Office of Sustainable Development this year, announces that National Chung Hsing University will achieve 100% net zero emissions by 2040, and is committed to becoming the earliest university in Taiwan to reach the standard. At present, National Chung Hsing University uses Wuri Xixinba Ranch as a demonstration area to introduce smart management systems and carbon fixation technologies. It is estimated that the ranch will achieve 100% carbon neutrality by 2025, and then National Chung Hsing University will implement the operation model to the entire campus to achieve the goal of sustainable development of the campus.
