A starting ceremony at the Comprehensive Building of Nantou Campus was held for National Chung Hsing University’s first charity run in Chung Hsing New Village on December 1, 2022. Thousands of people are expected to participate in the virtual road run. All the income from the participants’ registration will be used as the NCHU Xingyi Project Scholarship to help poor students. On the first floor of the Comprehensive Building, the "Joint Achievement Exhibition of Higher Education Deep Cultivation Project" and "Extremely Able Talent Teaching Achievement Exhibition" were successively held to showcase National Chung Hsing University's dazzling achievements in the fields of research and development, innovation and teaching.
As National Chung Hsing University President Fuh-Sheng Shieu said, in November, the main campus celebrated the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the university, and just finished the lively anniversary celebration activities. In December, a series of exhibitions were moved to the Nantou Branch for display, including the Exhibition of Achievements of the Higher Education Deep Cultivation Project and the Exhibition of Teaching Achievements. It is hoped that the local folks can learn about the current teaching and research status of National Chung Hsing University through visiting the exhibitions. At the same time, faculty, staff, students, alumni and the public were invited to participate in the charity run in Chung Hsing New Village with a radiant and enchanting scene, so as to get more familiar with the Nantou Branch and help poor students in addition to sports.
All proceeds from this road run activity were donated to the Xingyi Scholarship. National Chung Hsing University has promoted the Xingyi Project since 2017. Every September, economically disadvantaged first-year freshmen are allowed to file an application for the scholarship which shall be offered at an amount of TWD100,000 per year and TWD400,000 in total for four years. The scholarship is now in its 6th year, and a total of 48 students have benefited.
Two groups consisting of Mini 10K and Happy 5K were planned for the NCHU charity run activity known as "Let the Wings Take Off and Fly" and provided during the days starting on November 18, 2022 and ending on January 31, 2023. As it was a virtual road run, participants could download the road running APP and record the road running track map (including time, kilometers, and route map). After crossing the finish line, the “runners” must upload their track map and two photos at the check-in points situated in Nantou Campus to the certification website. The five check-in points were Nantou Branch Comprehensive Building, Pine Garden Hall 12, Sports Stadium Area, Nantou Branch Preparatory Office, and Academy of Circular Economy.
The "Joint Achievement Exhibition of Higher Education Deep Cultivation Project" was held from December 1 to December 9 to demonstrate the world's unique agricultural biotechnology research and development and novel forward-looking industrial technologies. The exhibition area combined the university’s three major research centers of characteristic fields, the university social responsibility (USR), the industry-university-research link center and the smart machinery team, presenting National Chung Hsing University's dazzling achievements in forward-looking research, industrial links and social services in recent years.
"2022 Extremely Able Talent Teaching Achievement Exhibition" took place from December 13 to December 16, curated by a total of 31 units including National Chung Hsing University’s Center of Teaching/Learning, General Education Center, EMI Center, Language Center, Center of Science Education, library and colleges, departments and graduate institutes to showcase outstanding performances in teaching innovation, bilingual teaching, creative idea generation competitions and themed teaching achievements. It is also hoped that through this teaching achievement exhibition, both teachers and students can expand their teaching and learning horizons and have a glimpse of teaching highlights in different fields.
