On March 29th, 2024, the Enjoyable-Sunshine Gentleland Educational Foundation and National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) jointly hosted the signing ceremony for the donation of the Jade Award scholarship. During this event, a significant donation of 5 million NT dollars was made to NCHU to enhance the Jade Award scholarship fund. These funds are allocated to recognize young faculty members who demonstrate steadfast commitment to innovative and pioneering research endeavors. This philanthropic initiative is expected to accelerate the progress of research projects undertaken by young scholars at NCHU. Furthermore, it would enhance both the quality and reputation of the university in academic research pursuits.

The Enjoyable-Sunshine Gentleland Educational Foundation, led by CEO Ms. Jo-Fen Wen, an EMBA alumna of NCHU (Class of 2018, Business Leaders), has maintained a strong connection with the university over the years. In 2019, the foundation made a significant contribution by donating 1 million NT dollars to sponsor the construction of the university's History Gallery and an additional 200,000 NT dollars to support project research competitions in the College of Engineering. Ms. Wen expressed her profound appreciation for NCHU's esteemed status as a century-old university and its vibrant academic research community since her enrollment in the EMBA program. She underscored the importance of the Jade Award in nurturing the enthusiasm of young scholars in their research endeavors, which is why the foundation continues to offer its steadfast support. Founded with support from the esteemed textile manufacturing industry, Long John Group, the foundation is dedicated to elevating the standards of university education, with the overarching goal of enhancing the nation's competitiveness. This donation serves to incentivize young scholars to persist in their exploration and innovation within their specific fields, thereby amplifying NCHU's prestige and recognition on the global academic platform. Ultimately, this endeavor seeks to benefit both the nation and humanity at large.

President Dr. Fuh-Jyh Jan of NCHU stated that the university aims to encourage full-time faculty members under the age of 45 to engage in high-potential research areas. In 2013, the Jade Award was established through fundraising efforts initiated by former President Dr. Der-Tsai Lee. The selection process is highly competitive, and to date, 39 young scholars have been awarded. These award-winning young scholars have demonstrated outstanding performance in their respective research fields, with many subsequently receiving higher-level national and even international awards. This year, NCHU had a total of 4 scholars honored with the National Science and Technology Council's Outstanding Research Award, ranking fourth nationwide, following only NTU, NCKU, and NCTU. Among them, 2 scholars were previous recipients of the Jade Award, indicating the rigor and authority of the selection process and highlighting its significance as a critical mechanism for retaining and attracting talent to the university. Dr. Jan extended sincere appreciation to the foundation for their generous contribution, acknowledging CEO Wen's support and recognition of NCHU's talent development initiatives. This generous gesture is poised to galvanize broader attention towards talent cultivation and academic advancement in higher education. With the backing of the foundation, Dr. Jan envisions further enhancement of NCHU's academic stature and influence.
