The 17th Cheng-Hsing Cheng-Wan (CHCW) Cup, an annual event in Taiwan's comprehensive university system, was held at Chung Hsing University on May 18th and May 19th. Over 1,200 staff and students from National Chung Cheng University, National Chung Hsing University, National Cheng Kung University, and National Sun Yat-sen University participated in a two-day event that featured both arts and athletic events.
The CHCW Cup was established in 2006 by National Cheng Kung University and Sun Yat-sen University. It is named after the two universities' locations in Tainan: Fu “Cheng” and Xizi “Wan.” Later, National Chung Hsing University joined, leading to the name change to “Hsing Cheng-Wan Cup.” National Chung Cheng University joined in 2010 when the event became officially known as the 'Cheng-Hsing Cheng-Wan (CHCW) Cup'.
On the afternoon of May 18th, Chairman Fan-Sen WANG of the Taiwan Comprehensive University System, President Fu-Chih CHAN of National Chung Hsing University, President Shao-Cheng TSAI of National Chung Cheng University, Vice President Ming-Lung YU of National Sun Yat-Sen University, and Vice President Yu-nu CHEN of National Cheng Kung University attended the opening ceremony of the Taiwan Comprehensive University System's annual inter-university sports event.
Finally, after six years of battling against the COVID-19 epidemic, the CHCW Cup returns to be hosted by National Chung Hsing University. To provide students with a better and safer venue for extracurricular activities, the university spent 120 million NTD renovating the Student Activity Center - Yun Ping Building, improving its appearance, reinforcing its structure, and updating high-voltage electrical equipment. At the renovated Student Activity Center, hosted the CHCW Cup's teacher-student friendship matches were held, which included a basketball shooting machine online duel, a student Go competition, and student board games.
This year, there were 17 formal competitions, a student board game tournament, and a teacher-student friendly event. Students competed in men's volleyball, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, billiards, badminton, tennis, baseball, football, swimming, track and field relay, chess, dancing, and archery, while staff competed in tennis, badminton, and billiards. The competition not only enhances the physical and mental health of staff and students but also fosters interactions and deepens relationships among teachers and students from the four schools, which is highly important.
