National Central Library and National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) co-hosted the "Young Scholar Cultivation Workshop - Central Taiwan Session," which commenced on August 7 at the NCHU Library. The camp brought together 46 students from 32 high schools and vocational schools across 12 counties in Taiwan for a three-day event. With the theme "Does Research Begin with a Question?", the workshop included a series of courses on research learning, research methods, academic paper writing, and research data management, aimed at guiding high school and vocational school students into the academic research field and inspiring their interest in research.

The opening ceremony was jointly hosted by NCHU Vice President Chen Chuan-Mu, National Central Library Director Wang Han-Ching , and NCHU Library Director Sung Hui-Yun . On the first day, Vice President Chen Chuan-Mu shared his experiences in teaching and research, followed by Professor Wu Jiunn-Lin from NCHU’s Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, who introduced the principles of artificial intelligence and its application in academic research, emphasizing the importance of proper citation in academic and coursework. On the second day, Director Sung Hui-Yun lectured on research design and methods, while Professor Tseng Yu-Hsin from the Department of Life Sciences guided students on academic writing and proper citation of literature. On the third day, students presented their group research findings, with three PhD-level editors from the National Central Library providing evaluation and guidance.

In her speech, Director Wang Han-Ching noted that the Young Scholar Cultivation Workshop has entered its tenth year, consistently receiving positive feedback. She expressed special thanks to NCHU for planning a comprehensive curriculum this year, which helps students understand how to become young scholars, overcome setbacks, choose research topics, and utilize AI technology as an assistant. She hoped that all participants would gain substantial knowledge from the event.

Vice President Chen Chuan-Mu emphasized that the National Central Library organizes workshops across northern, central, and southern Taiwan to extend resources to younger generations. He highlighted that universities invest significant funds annually to enrich library resources and hoped that participants would make good use of the NCHU Library’s extensive collections and electronic resources during the three-day workshop, applying what they learned in their research presentations. He expressed his wish that this workshop would serve as the beginning of the students' engagement in research and inspire their interest in academic pursuits.
