NCHU Signs Sister School Agreement with UCSI Malaysia, Expanding Collaboration Blueprint in Malaysia

On September 13, 2024, President Dr. Fuh-Jyh Jan, Vice President Dr. Chi-Chung Chou and Dean of College of Engineering Dr. Ming Der Yang of National Chung Hsing University visited UCSI University in Malaysia and participated in a signing ceremony. They were warmly received by UCSI's Vice President Professor Datuk Dr. Rohana Binti Yusof, Distinguished Professor Dr. Phang Siew Moi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Postgraduate Studies, and Assoc Prof Dr. Crystale Lim, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.
UCSI University is ranked 265th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, making it a leading university among private higher education institutions in Malaysia. As a comprehensive university, UCSI offers a wide range of programs in fields such as medicine, pharmacy, nursing, engineering, architecture, music, multimedia, education, and humanities. The university has approximately 12,000 students, representing 110 different countries.
During the signing ceremony, UCSI Vice President Professor Datuk Dr. Rohana Binti Yusof welcomed the visitors from NCHU and introduced UCSI's unique academic developments and its outstanding international performance. President Dr. Fuh-Jyh Jan expressed gratitude for UCSI's warm hospitality and highlighted the potential for future collaborations between the two comprehensive universities. Vice President Dr. Chi-Chung Chou mentioned that in 2024, UCSI had 12 scholars listed among the top 2% of scientists globally, while National Chung Hsing University had 61. He emphasized that cross-national collaboration among outstanding scientists from both universities could enhance academic performance and further promote "interdisciplinary collaboration" and "internationalization" for both universities.
The signing aims to serve as a positive starting point for expanding future cooperation, including inviting each other's faculty as visiting professors, collaborative research publications, student internships across borders, and dual degree programs. Additionally, by signing a student exchange agreement, both universities hope to achieve stable student exchanges, further strengthening their cooperative interactions and creating more opportunities for collaboration for students and faculty alike.
